Altamont soccer suffered a tough loss to Centralia in their Pink Out Game for Mae’s Miracle on Friday evening, but bounced back on Saturday morning with a win over St. Anthony. On Friday, the Indians battled hard with the Orphans but were able to find the goal just once as Quincy Niermann scored in the 13th minute of the first half to give Altamont a 1-0 lead. Centralia went on to scored three unanswered goals though with two in the first half and one more in the second half as the Indians fell 3-1. Just about 16 hours later, Altamont hit the field again to host St. Anthony in the two teams’ third meeting of the season. Despite the Indians missing a majority of their normal starters to injury, they did not skip a beat and ten minutes into the first half opened the scoring with a goal by James Durbin off a pass from Kaleb Overton. Later in the first half, Jaxon Phillips picked up a loose ball and put it in for the Indians’ second goal of the game for a 2-0 lead. Before the halftime break, Altamont tacked on to their lead as Mason Suey was able to score off of a Chase Pals corner kick as the Indians took a 3-0 lead to end the half. The Indians continued to hold the Bulldogs scoreless and added on an insurance goal in the half as Hayden Bridges found the back of the net off of a pass from Calvin Bannister as Altamont finished off the 4-0 win and beat St. Anthony for the third time this season. The Indians are now 10-5-2 on the season and they will go on the road Tuesday to take on ALAH in Arthur.
