Altamont got out to a sizable lead early and then put together a pair of strong innings late as they ran away from Dieterich for a 12-1 with Parker Bell leading the way with five RBI in the Indians’ win and their National Trail Conference regular season finale. Altamont opened up the game’s scoring with a run in the top of the first inning on an RBI groundout by Kaiden Wolff for the 1-0 lead and then doubled that up to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Carson Milleville. After a single by Zaine Miller to lead off the third inning, Wolff reached base on an error and Miller was able to come all the way around to score and extend the Altamont lead to 3-0 before a 2-run shot by Parker Bell two batters later scored Wolff and pushed the Indians lead to 5-0. Dieterich was able to score their only run of the game in the bottom of the third inning to cut the Altamont lead down to 5-1 and it would stay that way for two scoreless innings before the Indians offense got moving again. With runners at first and second and one out in the top of the sixth inning, Wolff hit a line drive single to left field to bring in a run before Bell doubled to left field to drive in two more runs and John Childerson grounded out to score Blake Berk from third for a 9-1 Altamont lead. With runners at the corners, Kale Davis hit a hard ground ball and reached base on an error that allowed Bell to score as the Indians led 10-1 to end the half inning. An RBI single from Berg followed by a sacrifice fly by Bell in the top of the seventh added on two final runs as the Indians closed out the big 12-1 win. Altamont is 7-11 on the season and wraps up NTC at 4-4. The NTC Tournament will get underway with play-in games on Friday with the quarterfinals on Monday and the Indians will await the release of the official tournament bracket to find out their quarterfinal opponent.
