The Cowden Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back, coming away with a 9-2 win over the Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers on Wednesday. The Bobcats got on the board in the top of the first inning with a 2-RBI double from Connor Vaughn, giving CHBC a 2-0 lead. Two batters later, Vaughn scored on a passed ball, extending the lead to 3-0. Max Kircher reached on an error in the top of the second inning, allowing a run to score and extending the lead to 4-0. Vaughn grounded out to score Kale Hardimon making the score 5-0. The Bobcats added a run with an RBI single from Curtis Bethel, making the score 6-0, before adding three runs in the fourth, off a pair of errors and a wild pitch, making the score 9-0. The Bombers got their lone two runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth when Dodge Willms reached on an error, and John Durham hit a sacrifice fly, cutting the deficit to 9-2. BSE was unable to draw closer, falling to the Bobcats 9-2. CHBC is now 4-8 on the season and will take on Odin-Patoka on Thursday at 7 pm at Greenville University. BSE is now 8-8 on the season and will take on Woodlawn at 4:15 at Greenville University.
