The Altamont Indians used a big 5-run third inning to take a lead and never looked back, coming away with a 9-5 win over the Dieterich Movin’ Maroons on Saturday morning. The Maroons got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, scoring a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead. That score held until the top of the third when Zaine Miller tripled to score Reed Stuemke, and Kaiden Wolff followed with a single to score Miller, tying the game at 2. An RBI single from Blake Berg and a 2-RBI single from John Childerson gave the Indians a 5-2 lead. Dieterich trimmed away at the deficit, scoring two runs in the bottom of the third, making the score 5-4. Altamont added a run in the top of the fifth inning when Wolff scored on a wild pitch, extending the lead to 6-4. The Indians broke the game open in the top of the sixth with a pair of RBI doubles from Carson Milleville and Miller, and a sacrifice fly from Wolff, extending the lead to 9-4. The Maroons added a run in the bottom of the sixth, but Altamont was able to shut the door, securing the 9-5 win. The Indians are now 6-6 on the season. Altamont will be on the road on Tuesday when they take on South Central at 7 PM at Lions Field in Kinmundy.
