The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats used a big 8-run third inning to help spark an 11-1 five-inning win over the Mulberry Grove Aces on Thursday. Jackson Elam got the Aces on the board with a triple before scoring on a passed ball, giving them a 1-0 lead. That score held until the bottom of the third inning, when a single and a pair of walks loaded the bases for Max Kircher, who grounded into a fielder’s choice, tying the game at 1-1. Brody Cox scored on a passed ball, giving the Bobcats a 2-1 lead, before a 2 RBI single from Connor Vaughn extended the lead to 4-1. An RBI double from Isaac Wells, a balk, and a pair of wild pitches capped off an 8-run third for CHBC, extending their lead to 8-1. A 2-RBI double from Wells and an RBI single from Lance Roadarmel extended the Bobcats lead to 11-1, and Harlan McConkey tossed a scoreless fifth, securing the 11-1 win for CHBC. The Bobcats are now 2-7 on the season. CHBC will be back home on Friday for an NTC matchup with Windsor/Stew-Stras.
