South Central Middle School softball picked up their fifth straight softball Regional Championship on Saturday, beating Neoga 8-2 in the title game of the St. Elmo 1A Regional. Neoga scored their only two runs of the game in the top of the first inning with both runs coming home on wild pitches as South Central trailed 2-0 before their first at bat. The Lady Falcons got those two runs back quickly when they got their chance at the plate with Raelyn Parker getting on with a single and then scoring from second when Skylar Webster reached base on an error. Two batters later, Webster scored on a wild pitch to tie the game up at 2-2. Ater a scoreless second inning, South Central took their first lead of the game with Parker scoring on a groundout by Violet Skibinski to put the Lady Falcons up 3-2. Both teams went scoreless in the fourth inning but SCMS got going again in the fifth inning as a single from Skibinski brought in two runs and pushed the South Central lead out to 5-2. That lead held until the sixth inning when the Lady Falcons widened the gap even more with and RBI single from Lexy Garrett pushing the lead to 6-2 and Webster scoring Garrett with a double to further push the lead out to 7-2. South Central closed out the game’s scoring with Sophia D scoring when Emory B reached base on an error to make it 8-2. Neoga put a runner on base with one out, but the Lady Falcons would get a double play to end the game and seal their Regional Championship win. South Central moves to 18-3 on the season and will take on 11-2 West Salem in the Hutsonville Sectional H Championship game on Tuesday at 4:30pm.
