
The Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers saw their 4-game losing streak come to an end on Thursday, coming away with an 8-2 win over the Christ Our Rock Lutheran Stallions at Greenville University. An RBI single in the bottom of the second inning gave the Stallions a 1-0 lead, but the Bombers responded in the top of the third when Jayce Gillespie singled to score Calvin Voelker and Sullivan Smith, giving BSE a 2-1 lead. Logan Lach followed with a triple, allowing Gillespie to score, extending the lead to 3-1. The Bombers added three runs from a pair of RBI singles from Nolan Wilhour and Drayden Bogart, and Gavin Schnarre reaching on an error, pushing the lead to 6-1. The Stallions got a run back on an RBI single in the bottom of the third, cutting the deficit to 6-2. That score held until the top of the fifth, with an RBI single from Voelker and an RBI triple from Gillespie making the score 8-2. Lach would hold the Stallions scoreless through the final two innings, securing the 8-2 win for BSE. The Bombers are now 6-4 on the season. BSE will be on the road on Friday for an NTC matchup with Windsor/Stew-Stras.
