The South Central Cougars baseball team suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday falling to the St. Anthony Bulldogs 12-2 at Paul Smith Field. After a scoreless inning and a half, the Bulldogs scored 4 runs in the second inning and five more in the third, jumping out to an early 9-0 lead. That score held until the top of the fifth inning when the Cougars got on the board with a pair of RBI singles from Luke Shumate and Ryker Dodson cutting their deficit to 9-2. That would be the closest South Central would get as St. Anthony responded with a 3-run fifth to put the 10-run rule into effect and handing the Cougars the 12-2 loss. South Central is now 4-1 on the season and 1-1 in the NTC. The Cougars will be on the road on Thursday to take on Wayne City.
