With the high school football season kicking off tonight and most teams playing their first week games on Friday night, the Illinois Media (formerly Associated Press) Preseason Poll was released on Wednesday. The Vandals are getting some early acknowledgment as they received 12 points to come in at #9 in the 3A poll. Vandalia was also one of just two South Central Conference teams to find themselves with points in the preseason rankings as Pana received four points but did not land in the top 10, coming in tied for 15th in the points total with DuQuoin in 2A. The Vandals open up their season at home on Friday night, hosting Carlinville at 7pm at Mark Greer Field.
