The Vandals now again have a Week 9 opponent in High School Football.
The Vandals found out a few weeks ago that Litchfield would not field a varsity team this year. And, that meant the Vandals lost their week 9 game–leaving them with either finding a new opponent for week 9 on very short notice or taking a forfeit and having no game in the final week of the regular season.
On Monday, it was announced that Decatur Eisenhower will not field a varsity football team this year. And, that left all their opponents in the Central State Eight Conference searching to fill a hole. And, the Week 9 opponent for Eisenhower was the Springfield Lanphier Lions. So, the Vandals will take to take on the Lions for the Week 9 game on Friday, October 16th at 7 pm at Memorial Stadium in Springfield.
Although Lanphier is a much larger school with an enrollment of 990, they have struggled quite a bit in recent years in football. Lanphier was 1-8 last year, 0-9 the previous year and have actually won just 2 games total in the past 5 seasons.
