Boys Runner of the Year – August Cosart, CHBC – The senior capped off his senior season with seven top 5 finishes in 12 races including taking second place three times. Cosart took 3rd place in the National Trail Conference Meet and took 5th at the IESA 1A Regional Meet at Shelbyville. Cosart then finished 12th at the IHSA 1A Cumberland Sectional to earn his second trip to the State Meet. Cosart finished 69th at the IHSA 1A State Meet, an improvement of ten spots from his junior year finish of 79th place. Cosart has signed to continue his running career at Lake Land College.
Boys Most Improved Runner – Kelton Dunaway, Altamont – The freshman turned in a strong debut high school season for the Indians taking 21st in the loaded Shelbyville Trail Invite before placing 12th in his first National Trail Conference Meet. Dunaway’s best performance of the year came in the IHSA 1A Shelbyville Regional when Dunaway shaved just over eight seconds off of his personal best time to take 16th in the Regional and advance to the IHSA 1A Cumberland Sectional Meet for the first time where he placed 77th.
