South Central volleyball made quick work of the host team with a two set win 25-11, 25-17 in the Championship game of the Oblong 1A Regional on Thursday night. The title is the first for the Lady Cougars since they won back-to-back Regional Championships in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. It also marks the third in seven years under Coach Megan Murphree. South Central after now winning five in a row is 25-8 on the season, reaching the 25-win mark for the third time in the last six seasons. After making long road trips three nights in a row for regional play, South Central will have a short road trip and play in a very familiar gym as they compete in the St. Elmo Sectional. They will face Carlyle (28-8) who won their own Regional with a win over Mt. Olive 25-10, 25-14 in the title game. The semifinal between the Lady Cougars and the Lady Indians will be on Tuesday at 7:00pm at St. Elmo High School with the winner advancing to the Sectional Championship on Thursday, November 5 against the winner of the first semifinal between Okawville and Cisne.
