SEB and Ramsey volleyball put on a show of timely tips, unexpected saves and big hits in the Championship game of the Egyptian Illini Conference Tournament as St. Elmo-Brownstown topped Ramsey in two sets 25-12, 25-23. The first set saw the Lady Eagles and Lady Rams trade points as neither team was able to string together any momentum and the first half of the set remained tight. However, SEB was able to pull away though to get the first set win, 25-12. The second set was again tight with the Lady Rams able to hold the lead at several points as the teams would stay within three points of each other for most of the match. Trailing the Lady Rams 23-22 late, SEB was able to get a kill and a couple of service aces to pull ahead and then secure the 25-23 set win for their fourth straight championship. Ramsey is now 19-10 on the season and will open postseason play in quarterfinals of the Maryville Christian 1A Regional as the #6 seed facing #11 seed Lebanon on Tuesday at 7:00pm. SEB is now 25-5 on the season and as the #1 seed, will have a quarterfinal bye, beginning play in the North Clay 1A Regional on Wednesday at 6:00pm against the winner of the quarterfinal match between #8 seed Cumberland and #9 seed Hutsonville.
