
Ninth seeded CHBC earned itself at least one more game in the National Trail Conference Baseball Tournament with a 5-3 win over #8 seed Brownstown-St. Elmo on Friday evening. A sacrifice fly by Isaac Wells put the Bobcats ahead 1-0 in the top of the first inning but BSE responded in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game up at 1-1 when Nolan Wilhour reached base on a CHBC error and allowed Jayce Gillespie to score. The Bobcats regained the lea din the top of the second inning on an RBI line drive single by Max Kircher to go up 2-1. The lead was short lived as BSE got a two RBI single to left field from Sullivan Smith to bring in a pair of runs and give the Bombers their first lead of the game, 3-2. After a scoreless third inning, the Bobcats tied the game up once again at 3-3 as Kircher came through again with an RBI single. The game remained tied until the top of the sixth inning when CHBC took the lead again, 4-3, when Connor Vaughn drew a bases loaded walk and an inning later in the top of the seventh, a sacrifice fly from Lance Roadermel extended the lead to 5-3 and CHBC closed out the win. The Bobcats move on to the quarterfinals of the tournament where they face #1 seed St. Anthony on Monday.
