CHBC wrapped up regular season National Trail Conference play with a 4-1 win over North Clay at home on Tuesday. Connor Vaughn hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning to put the Bobcats on the scoreboard and start that day’s scoring as CHBC took a 1-0 lead. After a scoreless second inning, the Bobcats got a single from Kale Hardimon and a walk drawn by Vaughn to put runners at first and second before Isaac Wells hit a line drive single to left field that brought Hardimon around to score and allowed Vaughn to move up to second. Vaughn then scored on a passed ball and in the next at bat Wells scored on an error by the North Clay pitcher that pushed the CHBC lead up to 4-0. The Bobcats went three up, three down in both the fourth and fifth innings and North Clay scored their one and only run in the top of the sixth inning to cut the Bobcat lead down to 4-1. With the Bobcats again putting the minimum number of batters at the plate with nothing doing in the bottom of the sixth, that lead would hold as the final after CHBC kept the Cardinals scoreless again in the seventh to close out the 4-1 win. CHBC improves to 6-10 on the season and finishes regular season NTC play at 1-7. The Bobcats will wrap up their fall season with play in the National Trail Conference Tournament that begins play on Friday and continues next week on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The official bracket is expected to be released after the full completion of all regular season NTC games today.
