Altamont Lutheran Interparish baseball saw their season come to a close as they suffered a tough 11-6 loss to Pawnee in the IESA Raymond 1A Sectional Championship on Saturday. After Pawnee took a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the Rockets got a leadoff double from Easton Caraway and he scored when Keaton Davis reached base on error after laying down a bunt as the Rockets cut it to a 2-1 ballgame. After a scoreless second inning, Pawnee added on a run in the top of the third inning to make it 3-1 but the Rockets got that run back plus one more to tie the game at 3-3 when Gentry Sefton reached base on an error that allowed Caraway to score and an RBI single by Henry Alwardt that brought in Sefton to score. ALIS had a rough fourth inning as they committed three errors and Pawnee scored five runs to pull ahead 8-3. The Rockets kept fighting and put runners at first and second before Sefton hit a line drive to left field and the fielder was unable to cleanly field the ball allowing Drew Shewmake and Caraway to score to close it to 8-5. A batter later, Chad Grobengieser doubled to centerfield to score Elias N to bring the Rockets to within two runs 8-6. That would be it for the ALIS scoring though as after scoreless fifth and sixth innings by both teams, Pawnee scored three more runs in the top of the seventh inning to extend their lead to 11-6 and the Rockets were unable to respond and they suffered the 11-6 loss. ALIS wraps up their season with a record of 13-5.
