Vandalia volleyball battled hard for two sets, but Carlinville pulled away in the third set to hand the Lady Vandals a 24-26, 25-22, 14-25 loss in South Central Conference play on Thursday night. The Lady Vandals and Lady Cavies fought point for point through each of the first two sets with but Carlinville used an early set 8-point run to create some space and Vandalia couldn’t catch up. The Lady Vandals drop to 1-2 in the SCC and are now 7-14-2 overall on the season. They will have to go on the road for a pair of tough matches coming up as they face 18-2 Newton on Monday and then will return to SCC play at 21-0 Pana next Thursday.
