The Altamont Indians offense struggled on Thursday, falling to the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes in a doubleheader, 6-0 and 11-1. The first game served as the Championship game of the North Clay Tournament after the original scheduled game on Saturday was canceled due to the extreme heat over the weekend. The Indians were held scoreless on just three hits in the game as the Wooden Shoes scored three runs in both the fourth and sixth innings to beat Altamont 6-0. In the second game, Teutopolis jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning and added three more runs in the second inning as Altamont trailed 7-0. The Indians scored their lone run of the game in the top of the fifth inning with a Mason Everett sacrifice fly that cut the Indians deficit to 7-1. However, the Shoes put together a 4-run inning in the bottom of the seventh to extend their lead over Altamont to 11-1 which would hold as the final. Altamont now stands at 6-9 on the season and will be at home on Saturday morning to take on Windsor/Stew-Stras.
