Both bragging rights and a trip to the IESA 1A Sectional Championship will be on the line today as Altamont Grade School and Altamont Lutheran Interparish School (ALIS) are set to meet for the first time in an IESA Regional Championship baseball game. In the Nokomis 1A Regional semifinals, the #2 seed Wildcats beat third-seeded Edinburg 14-13 while the top-seeded Rockets beat Nokomis 17-5. With the two hometown teams set to face off against each other, the IESA allowed for the game to be moved from Nokomis to the home park for each team, Gilbert Park in Altamont. The Championship game will get underway at 4:30pm with the winner advancing to the Raymond Sectional on Saturday morning at 11:00am.
