The Brownstown-St. Elmo Bombers jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back, coming away with a 16-0 win over the Ramsey Rams in the opening game of the EIC-MTC tournament on Tuesday. The Bombers got on the board early with an RBI single from Logan Lach, giving them a 1-0 lead. Three batters later, Zayden Gillespie reached on an error, allowing two runs to come across, extending the lead to 3-0. A pair of RBI singles from Gavin Schnarre and Fred Towler capped off a 5-run first inning giving BSE a 5-0 lead. The Bombers added on in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI groundout from Lach and RBI hits from Dodge Willms, Zayden Gillespie, and Towler, extending the Bombers lead to 10-0. BSE added six runs in the bottom of the third, and held the Rams scoreless in the top of the fourth, securing the 16-0 win. BSE is now 8-7 on the season and will play CHBC in the tournament semifinals today at 4:15pm in Brownstown. The Rams are now 1-5 on the season and will play Mulberry Grove today at 4:15pm at Mulberry Grove.
