Altamont soccer was able to withstand both the heat and a tough Effingham team as they pulled out a 1-0 win over the Flaming Hearts at home on Saturday morning. After 26 minutes of play that say the Indians just miss on several nice shots on goal, Altamont broke through when Ashton Buchanan received a pass from Preston Kroening and put it in for the goal and the 1-0 Altamont lead. That slim lead held to halftime, giving both teams a well-deserved rest and extended water break. The second half saw each team put together extended runs, but both were held scoreless as the first half goal by the Indians would hold up and prove to be the game winner as Altamont held on for the 1-0 victory. Eli Barnes picked up another clean sheet in goal for the Altamont in the win. The Indians are now 7-2 on the season and will have a few days off before going back out on the road for two games late this week playing at Trenton Wesclin on Thursday and Greenville on Saturday morning.
