Brownstown-St. Elmo baseball found themselves in a big hole early and made a big late comeback but it was not enough as the Bombers suffered a tough 5-4 loss at Woodlawn on Saturday. Woodlawn scored three first inning runs and added on two more in the second inning as BSE trailed 5-0 at the end of the second. After three more scoreless innings for the Bombers, they broke through in the top of the sixth inning for four runs to close their gap down to a single run, trailing 5-4. BSE continued to hold Woodlawn scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings but failed to push any more runs across the plate in the seventh themselves as they took the 5-4 loss. BSE is now 6-6 on the season and will next play on Tuesday when they host North Clay in National Trail Conference action.
