
Despite outhitting Neoga 7-5 the South Central Cougars could only muster three runs falling to the Indians 7-3. Neoga got a run on the board in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. The Cougars tied the game in the bottom of the second off an RBI double from Colton Tockstein tying the game at 1. The Indians scored three runs in the top of the third inning taking a 4-1 lead. South Central added a run in the bottom of the third when Luke Shumate singled to score Jordan Smith to cut the deficit in half 4-2. Two batters later, Ryker Dodson hit a sacrifice fly to score Shumate making the score 4-3. The Cougars had a chance to tie or take the lead in the bottom of the sixth, putting runners on first and second with two outs, but were unable to capitalize. Neoga added a trio of insurance runs in the top of the seventh, and South Central was sent down in order, falling to the Indians 7-3. South Central is now 6-2 on the season, and 2-2 in the NTC. The Cougars will be back home on Tuesday to take on Odin/Patoka.
