Vandalia volleyball went 2-1-2 to finish in third place at the Altamont Invitational Tournament on Saturday. With pool play matches held to just two sets to 21 and allowed to finish as a 1-1 split, the Lady Vandals took first place in their pool after splitting their first match with Altamont 18-21, 21-12 and their third match with Cumberland 21-15, 19-21 while getting a win against Heritage 21-14, 21-15 in the middle match. Their first place finish in pool play set them up with a crossover match against Greenville with the Lady Vandals falling 21-25, 20-25 sending them to the third place match. The Lady Vandals met up with Cumberland again and were able to dispatch the Pirates 25-13, 25-16. Lady Vandals junior outside hitter Elaina Hagy was named to the All-Tournament Team. Vandalia now stands at 3-3-2 on the season and will be off until Thursday when they have a tough South Central Conference matchup at home against the reigning Conference Champion Staunton Bulldogs.
