Altamont soccer kept its win streak going with a 4-1 win over Carlyle on the road on Thursday night. The Indians came out ready and put their first goal on the scoreboard five minutes into the game as Quincy Niermann scored on an assist from Ashton Buchanan for a 1-0 lead. Altamont doubled up their lead with 11 minutes to go in the first half as Preston Kroening found Aiden Rosales who scored and put the Indians up 2-0 which would be the score at the halftime break. After several near misses on goal to open the second half, the Indians broke through again 17 minutes in as Rosales got a one-on-one and put the ball past the goalie to pick up his second goal of the game and extend the Altamont lead to 3-0. Not long after his second goal, Rosales got a loose ball and hit Chase Pals with a crossing pass who found the back of the net to push the Indians lead to 4-0. With five minutes to go in regulation, Carlyle was able to score their lone goal of the game to cut it to 4-1 but the first half damage done by Altamont was all the Indians needed to secure the win. Altamont moves to 5-1 on the season having won five straight matches after their season opening loss. After a few days off due to an unexpected schedule change, they will look to keep their momentum going as they hit the road again on Tuesday to take on Teutopolis. The Indians then travel to Olney on Thursday for a 6:30pm match as it has been moved from its original scheduled date and time Saturday morning to Thursday, September 10 due to the expected weather.
