
The St. Elmo-Brownstown Lady Eagles were able to overcome a slow start to come away with a thrilling three set win over the South Central Lady Cougars 11-25, 25-17, 29-27 on Thursday night. The Lady Cougars jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and carried that momentum into a 25-11 set victory. The Lady Eagles responded by starting the second set with an 8-3 lead and went on an 11-4 run to extend their lead to 19-7. South Central attempted to chip away at the deficit, going on a 10-6 run, but it was enough for SEB to secure the 25-17 set win. The Lady Eagles carried over the momentum into the third set jumping out to a 13-8 lead and extended it to 19-10. The Lady Cougars wouldn’t go away quietly going on a 9-0 run to tie the set at 19-19. From there the two teams traded points but SEB was able to string together a pair of kills securing the 29-27 set and match win. SEB is now 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in the NTC. The Lady Eagles will be on the road on Saturday, taking on Wayne City and Cobden in the Wayne City Round Robin. South Central is now 5-2 on the season and 0-2 in the NTC. The Lady Cougars will be on the road next Thursday to take on Dieterich in an NTC Matchup.
