The Mulberry Grove Aces scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a late lead, helping propel them to a 12-9 win over the Ramsey Rams on Thursday. The Aces took the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Mason Hertz hit a 2-RBI single, giving Mulberry Grove a 2-0 lead. The Rams would get on the board in the top of the second when Max Reiss scored on an error, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Mulberry Grove added on in the bottom half of the second inning when Jackson Elam hit an RBI single, making the score 3-1. Two batters later, Jace Holloway reached on an error, allowing a pair of runs to score, extending the Aces lead to 5-1. Ramsey scored a pair of runs in the top of the third inning when Waylon Brock reached on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, and Reiss came around to score on a passed ball, making the score 5-3. Mulberry Grove continued to add on, with a pair of bases-loaded walks, an RBI single from Carson Caylor, and a passed ball capped off a 4-run third inning for the Aces, making the score 9-3. The Rams began chipping away at the deficit in the top of the fourth with a pair of bases loaded hit by pitches, and a bases loaded walk made the score 9-6. An RBI single from Reiss in the top of the fifth inning cut the deficit to 9-7, and a pair of RBI groundouts from Owen Warner and Zion Morrison tied the game at 9 in the top of the sixth. The Aces retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when Christian Stiff reached on an error allowing Hertz to score, making the score 10-9. Max Redou singled to score a pair of runs, extending the lead to 12-9. The Rams would load the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh, but Elam would record three straight strikeouts, securing the 12-9 win. Mulberry Grove is now 1-1 on the season. The Aces will be on the road on Monday, taking on Christ Our Rock Lutheran. The Rams are now 0-2 on the season. Ramsey will be back at home on Friday to take on Odin/Patoka.
