The Altamont Indians suffered a tough loss on Monday, falling to Hillsboro 3-0 in their home and season opener. The Hiltoppers opened the scoring for a goal shortly before the halfway point of the first half to make it a 1-0 game. That score would hold through the remainder of the first half and well into the second half before Hillsboro notched another goal to put the Indians down 2-0 late in the game. Another quick goal by Hillsboro capped off the game’s scoring as Altamont was never able to find the back of the net and suffered the 3-0 loss. The Indians start their season off at 0-1 but will look to rebound quickly as they kick off their own Altamont Tournament today. They will face Robinson today at 4:30pm to be followed by St. Anthony against Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond at 6:15pm. The Indians then play St. Anthony on Thursday and ALAH on Friday, playing both days at 4:30pm.
In JV action on Monday, the Indians picked up a 2-0 win over Hillsboro with Chase Pals and Mitchell Tenpenny both scoring one goal each, Julian Ixtepan assisting on Tenpenny’s goal and Zeke Barnes getting the shutout in goal.
