Vandalia High School Announces 2026 Hall of Fame Class


Vandalia High School on Thursday released its 2026 Hall of Fame class with two individuals and one team set to be inducted. This year’s individual honorees are 2020 graduate Lanee McNary and 2021 graduate Jarek Wehrle while the 2019 Vandalia Football team is the third honoree for this year. The 2026 Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on September 25 prior to the Vandals Homecoming Game against Greenville.

McNary was a member of both the Lady Vandals volleyball and basketball teams. On the volleyball court, McNary accumulated 638 assists across her junior and seniors seasons and was voted Team MVP and was All-Conference her senior year. On the basketball court, McNary finished her high school career with 1,155 points and sits 9th on the all-time girls scoring list. She has the record for most steals in Lady Vandals program history with 238, holds the record for career 3-point field goals with 261 and is ranked fifth on the all-time list with 270 assists. She was a 3-time South Central Conference All-Conference selection and was named to numerous All-Tournament teams.

Wehrle was a member of the Vandals wrestling team and amassed 176 career wins for the Vandals and held the record for most wins for five years before he was surpassed just this year by Dillon Hinton. Wehrle was a four-time state qualifier and four-time state placer, finishing sixth during his freshman and sophomore seasons, placing fourth his junior year and then winning the IWCOA State Championship his senior year after Covid canceled the IHSA State Tournament and IWCOA stepped in to giver wrestlers a legit state style tournament. At the time he was the fourth male wrestler to be a State Champion for the Vandals.

The 2019 Vandals Football teams was just the third team in school history to make it to the Elite Eight and they were the first team to make it to 11 wins in a season as they went 11-1 on the year. They went 9-0 in the regular season and were South Central Conference Champions having sent 7 of their 9 games to running clock in the second half due to their large margins of victory. In the playoffs, they beat North Mac in the first round of the playoffs and beat Mt. Carmel in the second round of the playoffs before falling in the third round to eventual State Champion Williamsville. They would finish the season ranked #4 in Class 3A in the final Associated Press rankings.
