Boys Track and Field Athletes of the Year:

Kohnor Depew, Vandalia – The senior sprinter again split his spring season between track and baseball and excelled in both with record setting performances on the track. Depew broke and reset his own school records in the 100m Dash and the 200m Dash taking first place in the 100 in four of six meets including Sectionals before finishing 12th in the event at the State Finals. And Depew took first place in all but one regular season meet in the 200 before taking first at Sectional to return to State in the event where he was on the podium for the second straight year, taking sixth place and running times of 21.82 seconds and 22.02 seconds in the Prelims and Finals. He finishes his high school career owning both the VCHS 100m and 200m Dash records while also being a part of the school record 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams.

Brock Wendling, Altamont – The senior thrower and Indians team leader took another big step forward in his final high school season with six first place and nine top 3 finishes in 12 meets competed in for the Shot Put where he added 4’ 2” inches onto his personal best. He claimed his first Sectional Championship which earned him a spot at the IHSA 1A State Finals for the third straight year where he took 10th place. Wendling also tacked on another 6’ 2” to his Discus personal best and had seven top 4 finishes out of 12 meets contested and took sixth place in a strong Newton Sectional.
