Pro Wire Athlete of the Week

Our Pro Wire Athletes of the Week for the week of March 28 are Vandalia baseball senior centerfielder Kohnor Depew and South Central softball pitcher Maddie Peddicord and freshman first baseman/catcher Emmie Ruholl.

Depew had a very strong week for the Vandals during their 3-0 run with wins against Hillsboro, Greenville and Ramsey-Mulberry Grove. The senior centerfielder went 8 for 11 at the plate this week for a .727 batting average, scoring seven runs and driving in four runs. He had five extra base hits including a double, two triples, a solo home run and a three-run home run.

Peddicord became the second Lady Cougars pitcher over their first three games to throw a no-hitter. Peddicord went all four innings of the 20-0 South Central win over Mulberry Grove this past Monday. Along with not allowing a hit in the game, she also did not give up a walk and struck out eight of the 14 batters she faced in the game. She also had a strong week at the plate going 5 of 7 with three runs scored and three RBI.

The Lady Cougars freshman Ruholl is off to a very strong start to her high school career as she went 8 of 10 at the plate through the first three games of the season, scoring a pair of runs and racking up 9 RBI as she drove in three runs in each of South Central’s three games this season.
