Pro Wire Athlete of the Week

Our Pro Wire Athlete of the Week for the week of March 14 is the Vandalia Jr. Wrestling Club.

For the past three and a half months, the athletes who make up the Vandalia Jr. Wrestling Club have been competing all across the state in the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation with older kids in grades 6-8 focusing on competition in the IESA for Vandalia Jr. High. The athletes have brought home countless plaques, medals and other awards as proof of their dedication and hard work. Of the many athletes that make up the Vandalia Jr Wrestling Club, 11 are competing in the end goal for each season, the State Championships being held this weekend. Four athletes are competing at the IKWF State Tournament including Lily Whitten, Waylin Rogers, Gabe Tidwell and Kynlea Doehring. Seven athletes are representing Vandalia Jr. High at the IESA State Tournament including Gotti Burtz, Hoyte Wagoner, Gus Kirk, Conrad Braun, Dayton Patterson, Sam Osborne and Braxton Emerick.

The tradition of Vandalia wrestling begins with the kids at a young age and countless hours in the wrestling room with dedicated volunteers and coaches and it’s the hard work at every level from the youngest of kids to the seniors at Vandalia High School that have made winning and Vandalia wrestling synonymous.

Your Athlete of the Week is brought to you by Pro Wire.
