Vandals 9U Baseball Wins Own Father's Day Tournament


Vandals 9U travel baseball went 3-1-1 over the weekend, winning their own Vandalia Father’s Day 9U Tournament held on Friday and Saturday at Denny’s Field. The Vandals played two games in pool play on Friday night, tying with Teutopolis Sandlot 9U, 8-8, before falling to Midstate Boomers from Pana, 4-3, to go 0-1-1 in pool play. The Vandals bounced back in a big way on Saturday morning and beat Rawlings Tigers Southern IL-Bock 9U, 13-2, in their first game of bracket play before getting a semifinal win over Top Tier of Springfield, 3-1. Their semifinal win set the Vandals up for a rematch with the Boomers in the Championship game which resulted in another one-run ballgame, this time with the Vandals coming out on top, 15-14, to claim the title. The Vandals are now 25-12-1 on the season and will play at home on Tuesday at Denny’s Field against Nashville Sting 9U.
