Brownstown-St. Elmo girls played three close games on Thursday, going 1-2 on their third day of competition at the Tri-Lakes Shootout at Forsyth High School in Forsyth, Missouri. In their first game of the day, the Lady Bombers jumped out to a 15-5 lead midway through the first half but was tied with Morrisonville 20-20 at halftime. BSE outscored Morrisonville 19-13 in the second half and picked up the win, 39-33. In their second game, BSE trailed Reed Springs 19-13 at halftime but was able to close it up to just a two-point game with under a minute to go in the game but that was as close as they would get, coming up just short, 33-31. In their final game of the day, the Lady Bombers found themselves in an 11-2 hole to Maumelle Charter midway through the first half, but fought back with a 10-2 run to close things up to 13-12. However, an 8-0 run by Maumelle Charter to close the half had BSE down 21-12 at halftime. The second half was titled in BSE’s favor offensively as they outscored Maumelle 12-4, but the Lady Bombers again came up just short, falling 25-24. BSE now stands at 5-3 overall for the Shootout and will wrap up play today with their final three games at Springfield Fieldhouse. The Lady Bombers play Ash Grove at 8:40am, Eldon at 10:00am and face Osceola at 11:20am.
