Altamont’s Wendling Finishes 10th in 1A Shot Put at IHSA Boys State Track Finals

Altamont senior thrower Brock Wendling wrapped up his high school track career with a 10^th place finish in the Finals of the Shot Put at the IHSA Boys 1A State Track Meet on Saturday morning at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Wendling threw a personal best of 52’ 4.75” in the Prelims on Thursday to earn his advancing spot to Saturday’s Finals. Wendling had a tough day Saturday fouling on his first and third attempts of the day with his lone marked throw coming in at 51’ which was not good enough to eclipse his Prelims mark that carried over from Thursday. He would drop three spots as throwers from Lena-Winslow, Mt. Sterling Brown County and Granville Putnam County threw better in Finals to jump up spots. Wendling ends his high school career being a three-time state qualifier in the Shot Put with finishes of 31^st and 21^st at the 2024 and 2025 State Finals before his 10^th place finish this year.
