BSE Advances to Regional Semifinals With Win Over Ramsey-Mulberry Grove


The Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers scored at least one run in all four innings played to come away with an 18-3 win over the Ramsey-Mulberry Grove Rams in the IHSA Class 1A Regional Quarterfinals. The Rams got on the board in the top of the first inning when Jackson Elam reached on an error, allowing Braxton Moreland to score, giving Ramsey/Mulberry Grove a 1-0 lead. An error allowed Logan Lach to reach base, scoring Keelan Spealge in the process, tying the game at 1. A passed ball scored Jayce Gillespie, giving BSE a 2-1 lead, before singles from Calvin Voelker and Lucas Powell, and a sacrifice fly from Nolan Wilhour helped extend the Bombers lead to 5-1. A 2-RBI double from Lach extended the BSE lead to 7-1, before the Bombers tacked on runs off of a pair of errors, a sacrifice fly, and a double to push their lead to 11-1. A bases-loaded walk to Jackson Elam made the score 11-2, but the Bombers tacked on 6 runs in the bottom of the third inning to make their lead 17-2. Moreland reached on an error in the top of the fourth inning, cutting the deficit to 17-3, before Voelker put the game away with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth, securing the Bombers 18-3 victory. BSE is now 10-11 on the season. The Bombers advanced to the Regional Semifinals, where they will take on the host Morrisonville-Linclonwood Mohawks on Wednesday. Ramsey-Mulberry Grove ends the season at 0-21.
