Vandalia eighth graders Sydnee Nestrick and Keaton White both made the podium bringing home top 5 finishes on the first day of the IESA 3A State Meet on Friday. Nestrick ran 13:05 seconds in the 8th Grade Girls 100m Dash Prelims to make the Finals on Friday evening and ran 13.11 seconds to take second place in a race that saw the entire eight girl field separated by only four-tenths of a second. On the boys side, Keaton White took fifth place in the 8th Grade Boys Long Jump as he had a best jump of 18’ 11.25” coming on his second attempt of the day.
Also on Friday, Grace Kruenegel finished 11th place in the 7th Grade Girls Long Jump with a best jump on the day of 14’ 1.75” coming on her fourth and final attempt. In the 7th Grade Boys 400m Dash, Luke Doehring finished just one place off of the podium as he ran 58.99 seconds to finish in 9th place.
The 3A State Meet will continue on Saturday with one Vandal set to compete as Nestrick will be back on the track to compete in the 200m Dash. Nestrick enters the event with the fourth fastest qualifying time.
