The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats took a late sixth inning lead, and held on for a 7-6 win over the Central A&M Raiders on Thursday. The Raiders took an early lead on a 2-run home run in the top fo the first inning, before CHBC got a run back when Clive Schlanser scored on an error to make the score 2-1. Isaac Wells reached on an error, allowing a pair of runs to score, giving the Bobcats a 3-2 lead. CHBC added on with an RBI single from Daithyn Arnold, and a fielder’s choice from Schlanser, extending their lead to 5-2. That score held until the top of the fourth inning when Central A&M rallied for a 3-run inning, tying the game at 5. The Bobcats retook the lead on an RBI single from Schlanser, before the Raiders responded with a run in the top of the sixth, tying the game at 6. An RBI single from Ben Askins broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth inning, givng CHBC a 7-6 lead, and Connor Vaughn retired the Raiders in order, securing the Bobcats 7-6 win. The win improves CHBC to 9-13 on the season, and have now won 4 of their last 5 games. The Bobcats will wrap up the regular season at home Friday, taking on North Clay.
