Ramsey softball has advanced to the semifinals of the White Hall North Greene 2A Regional while Mulberry Grove saw its season come to a close with the Lady Rams 17-6 win of the Lady Aces on Tuesday. Mulberry Grove started the game strong with Adalynn Lawrence hitting a line drive single to drive in the first run of the game for a 1-0 Aces lead. With the bases loaded, a pair of wild pitches allowed two more runs to score to push the Mulberry Grove lead to 3-0. With bases loaded again, a drawn walk by Eloise Vermeulen brought another run in and one more run scored on a wild pitch during the next at bat as the Lady Aces lead was extended to 5-0. Before the inning was up, a passed ball allowed a final Mulberry Grove run to score in the inning for a 6-0 Lady Aces lead. The Lady Rams got two runs back in the bottom of the first inning with back-to-back RBI singles from Kelli Cook and Rynn Hewitt to cut the Mulberry Grove lead to 6-2. That score held until the bottom of the third inning when Anna Benhoff scored on a steal of home and Ramsey cut it to a 6-3 ballgame. The momentum that Ramsey had been slowly building kicked into high gear in the bottom of the fourth inning led by a two RBI single by Cook that drive in two runs to bring Ramsey within a run, 6-5, before a bases loaded walk from Grace Eller tied the game at 6-6 and a two RBI single from Summer Sampson gave Ramsey their first lead of the game, 8-6. The Lady Rams kept the offense going with RBI singles from Kaylianna Morrison, Mia Waggoner, Violet Williams and Anna Benhoff as they Lady Rams shot ahead 14-6. Cook picked up another RBI single in the inning and Hewitt reached base on an error that brought Cook in to score and then Hewitt also scored on a wild pitch as the Lady Rams lead grew to 17-6 to end the fourth inning. Needing to score at least two runs to keep the game going, Mulberry Grove went three up, three down in the top of the fifth as the Lady Rams closed out the win. Ramsey improves to 10-10 on the season and advances to the semifinal game where they will have to face #2 seed Hardin Calhoun at 4:30pm in White Hall. Mulberry Grove ends their season at 0-18.
