Altamont Can't Overcome 3-Run Third in Loss to Effingham St. Anthony


The Altamont Indians allowed three runs in the top of the sixth inning and couldn’t hang on, falling to the St. Anthony Bulldogs 6-4 on Tuesday. Altamont got on the board in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single from Will Reardon, giving the Indians a 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs scored a pair of runs in the top of the third inning to take a 2-1 lead, but the Indians wasted no time retaking the lead, with Kade Milleville scoring on a wild pitch, and a Zaine Miller sacrifice fly giving Altamont a 3-2 lead. St. Anthony scored a run in the top of the fifth to tie the game, before taking the lead in the top of the sixth with a 3-run home run, making it a 6-3 lead. The Indians got a run back in the bottom of the sixth when Reardon reached on an error to cut the deficit to 6-4, but Altamont was unable to get any closer, falling to the Bulldogs 6-4. The loss drops Altamont to 20-9 on the season. The Indians will be back at home on Thursday to wrap up the regular season, taking on Okaw Valley.
