Fayette County Freedom 10U-Sefton softball captured their first championship title over the weekend at the Renegade Rumble in Mt. Vernon. Freedom suffered a 6-2 loss to South central Storm 10U-Dodson in the first game of pool play but bounced back with a, 8-6 win over Renegades 10U-Haarman to finish pool play at 1-1. In bracket play, Freedom beat Southern Illinois Extreme 12-9 before getting a semifinal win over Tigers 10U, 12-2, to earn their spot in the championship game and a rematch with Storm 10U-Dodson. In the title game, Freedom picked up a 5-3 to avenge their one tournament loss and nab their first championship win. Freedom 10U-Sefton is now 10-9-2 on the season and will host their own Memorial Day Tournament at Shed Field in Vandalia this weekend.
