The South Central Cougars tied the game in the top of the sixth inning, but were unable to hold the lead, falling to the Edwards County Lions 6-2. Luke Shumate led off with a double, and later came around to score on an error, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead. That lead held until the bottom of the third inning, when the Lions scored two runs to take a 2-1 lead. Garrett Shumate drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 2, but the Lions responded with a 4-run sixth inning to take a 6-2 lead. South Central was unable to mount a comeback in the top of the seventh inning, falling to Edwards County 6-2. The loss drops the Cougars to 6-16 on the season. South Central will be back on the road Monday to take on Neoga.
