The Altamont Indians overcame having the winning run in scoring position, coming away with a 12-11 win over the Greenville Comets. The Indians jumped out to an early 10-0 first-inning lead, highlighted by a leadoff homerun from Kade Milleville, and RBI doubles from Brayden Elam and Milleville. The Comets got two runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning to cut the deficit to 10-2. Altamont got those runs back in the top of the second inning off an RBI single from Reed Stuemke and a sacrifice fly from Milleville, making the score 12-2. The Comets scored two runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth, cutting the deficit to 12-7 going into the bottom of the seventh. A fielder’s choice and a triple put the tying run on base with two outs, but Cooper McManaway forced a popout, securing the 12-11 win for Altamont. The win improves the Indians to 17-7 on the season. Altamont will be back on the road today to take on Dieterich.
