SEB Can't Hold Onto Early Lead in NTC Consolation Semifinal Loss to Dieterich


The St. Elmo/Brownstown Lady Eagles couldn’t overcome a 4-run fifth inning from Dieterich, falling to the Movin’ Maroons 6-2 in the semifinals of the NTC Consolation bracket on Thursday. SEB got on the board in the top of the third inning when Dayana Haslett laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Macy Claycomb, giving the Layd Eagles a 1-0 lead. Dieterich tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth, before scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-1 lead. An RBI double from Brooklyn Landrus scored Izzy Orr, cutting the Dieterich lead to 5-2, but the Maroons got that run back in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 6-2. SEB would be held scoreless in the top of the seventh, falling to the Maroons 6-2. The loss drops SEB to 8-13 on the season. The Lady Eagles will be back in action this weekend, competing in the EIC Tournament.
