The Altamont boys track team competed in the Robinson Coach Cork Boys Invite on Friday taking seventh place as a team and then four Indians athletes competed in the Edwardsville Winston Brown Meet of Champions on Saturday. Altamont had four top 5 finishes at Robinson including a first place finish from senior Jacob Veteto in the Pole Vault with a height of 15’ which is a new Altamont school record. After their showing on Friday, four of the boys team members competed in the Meet of Champions featuring mainly 2A and 3A teams from southern and central Illinois. Senior Brock Wendling took 6th in the Shot Put and Veteto took 7th in the Pole Vault as all four boys competing finished 15th place or higher in the meet. The Altamont boys as well as the Altamont girls will be back in action on Tuesday when they compete in the Effingham Senior Night Triangular against the host Hearts and Charleston.
