The South Central Cougars ended their 6-game losing streak on Friday with a 4-3 win over the Flora Wolves. The Cougars got on the board in the top of the third inning with an RBI groundout from Luke Shumate and an RBI single from Hudson Moore, taking an early 2-0 lead. An RBI double from Flora in the bottom of the third inning would cut the South Central lead to 2-1, but the Cougars would get that run back in the top of the fourth inning when Colton Tockstein doubled to score Aiden Hoover, making the score 3-1. The Wolves would score two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at 3, but the Cougars immediately took the lead back in the top of the fifth inning when Garrett Shumate singled to score Ryker Dodson to give South Central a 4-3 lead. From there, Tockstein would hold the Wolves to just two baserunners, helping secure South Central with the 4-3 win. The Cougars improves to 5-11 on the season. South Central will be on the road Monday to take on T-Town.
