Vandalia 14U baseball team picked up a tournament championship over the weekend. The Vandals played in an 8-team tournament in Carlyle and opened play on Friday with a 10-1 win over the Breese Miners. After not playing any games on Saturday, the Vandals came back Sunday and shutout the Carlyle Mudcats 15-0 in the semifinals to punch their ticket to the title game. Vandalia kept their strong weekend going and beat the Salem Wildcats 14-3 in the Championship game to claim the title. The Vandals are now 8-1 on the Spring/Summer season and will be back in action this weekend in Stewardson taking on Stew-Stras on Sunday at 1:00pm and then the Mattoon Hitmen at 3:00pm.
