Altamont softball put up eight runs in the final two innings to close out a 13-4 win over CHBC in National Trail Conference action in Beecher City on Thursday. An RBI single by CHBC’s Ryleigh Sarver started the scoring and gave the Bobcats a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Altamont countered with an RBI single from Cecilia Pearcy in the top of the second to tie the game at 1-1. An inning later the Indians took a 3-1 lead on a 2-RBI single by Adilynn Schnarre and added another two runs in the top of the fourth on a fielder’s choice from Kennedi Schultz and an RBI single by Avery Fleeharty, leading 5-1 midway through the inning. Altamont continued to hold CHBC to just the one run and pushed their lead out to 10-1 with a five-run sixth inning as Fleeharty picked up her second RBI of the game and Schnarre picked her third and fourth RBIs and Sophia Long picked up two RBIs as well in the inning. After being held scoreless the previous four innings, CHBC was able to put up three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a bases loaded double that cleared the bases and pulled the Bobcats to within six runs, trailing Altamont 10-4. The Indians gave themselves even more breathing room on the seventh inning though, with an RBI single by Kara Bauer and a 2-RBI single from Ella Nelson to extend the Altamont lead to 13-4. CHBC had no answer in the bottom half of the inning as they went three up, three down and Altamont closed out the 13-4 win. Altamont is now 4-11 on the season and 3-3 in the NTC and will play again today when they host Newton. CHBC drops to 1-10 overall and 1-3 In the NTC. They will have another NTC matchup on Monday at Neoga.
