A pair of eight innings runs by Ramsey broke up a 4-4 tie with Altamont and lifted the Lady Rams to a 6-4 win over the Lady Indians on Tuesday. Ramsey was first to get on the scoreboard after a scoreless first inning, putting up two runs in the top of the second inning scoring on an Altamont error and RBI ground out by Summer Sampson to go up 2-0. That lead was edged out to 3-0 when Mia Waggoner hit a solo home run with one out in the top of the third inning. One inning later, Kaylianna Morrison got herself a one out solo home run as well as the Lady Rams went up 4-0. The Altamont offense got going in the bottom of the fourth inning, kickstarted by back to back singles from Avery Fleeharty and Haley Arend to put two runners on base. They both came around to score on a single by Sophia Long. Long’s courtesy runner Alyssa Ruholl then scored on a double from Laila Hankins and Hankins scored on a single by Cecilia Pearcy as the Lady Indians rally tied the game up at 4-4. The game remained tied over the next three innings as the two teams were held scoreless, being held to no more than one baserunner in each inning, sending the game to extra innings. In the top of the eighth inning, Ramsey got a leadoff single from Anna Benhoff followed by back to back walks drawn by Kelli Cook and Rynn Hewitt to load the bases. A single by Grace Eller to right field brought in Benhoff and Cook scored on an Altamont error to retake the lead 6-4 with no outs in the inning. Altamont was able to stop any further scoring threat, ending the inning on a flyout, a strikeout and a pick off of the runner at first base. Moving into the bottom half of the inning, Altamont put a baserunner on with a single from Long with two outs, but a strikeout ended the threat and closed out the game giving Ramsey the 6-4 win. The Lady Rams are now 2-7 on the season and will play at home today against St. Elmo-Brownstown. Altamont drops to 3-11 on the season and will next play Thursday at CHBC.
