Vandals Wrestling Rolls Over Murphysboro to Advance to Dual Team State Tournament for 25th Time

Vandalia wrestling is heading back to the IHSA Dual Team State Tournament after getting a 46-23 win over Murphysboro at the Taylorville Dual Team Sectional on Thursday night. After dropping four of the first five weight classes and trailing 17-6, the Vandals lost just one more weight class the remainder of the match, getting the big 46-23 win. The Vandals are now 27-2 on the season in dual team action and with the change in scheduling this year, they will have three weeks before they compete in the Dual Team State Tournament on February 27 and 28. It will be a familiar matchup as Vandalia will take on Chicago Hope Academy who they have met several times in the state quarterfinals. Chicago Hope beat Chicago Phillips, 56-9, to earn their spot at State. The winner of the Vandalia-Chicago Hope quarterfinal will face the winner of the Lena-Winslow and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley quarterfinal.
